Vauxhall Motors Ltd Spitfire Fund Shareholder presentation badge

A very scarce original Second World War period 'Spitfire fundraising badge' depicting a Spitfire fighter aircraft within a cloud, inlaid with blue enamel with 'Shareholder' scroll below; the reverse impressed in relief 'Vauxhall - Bedford'. Very good condition, complete with original pin fittings, no damage to the enamel, minor wear to lightly silvered finish.

An advertisement that appeared in the Biggleswade Chronicle - Friday 27 September 1940 :

THE VAUXHALL MOTORS LTD. SPITFIRE FUND is now extended to VAUXHALL and BEDFORD OWNERS in order to swell the £4,000 ALREADY SUBSCRIBED to the price of a Spitfire.
SHAREHOLDER BADGES are issued to the public who subscribe A Black and Gold Badge for contributions of £1 and upwards. Black and Silver for contributions between 10/- and 19/11, Blue and Silver for contributions between 2/6 and 9/11.
