SS Montrose Canadian Pacific ships wheel pin badge sunk 1940

A scarce original circa pre 1940's period 'S.S.Montrose gilt and blue enamel ships wheel title badge'; mounted to the centre with the Canadian Pacific Steam Ship Company red and white chequered flag. Very good condition, complete with original pin fittings, no stress marks or enamel loss, gilt finish remains bright.
Diameter approx 27mm.
'S.S.Montrose' was built by Fairfield Co, Glasgow for Canadian Pacific SS Co, she started her maiden voyage on 5th May 1922 from Liverpool to Quebec and Montreal. In the Second World War she was then converted to the Armed Merchant Cruiser and became 'HMS Forfar'. On the 2nd December 1940 she was torpedoed and sunk by the German submarine U.99 off the West coast of Ireland with the loss of 172 lives.
