September 1938 December 1941. the other is unmarked silver and is embossed to the reverse 'The Saunders Medal' and is inscribed on the suspension bar 'S/N Katherine M.Jones' this housed in its original John Pinches leather fitted case. A scarce original First World War period superb quality 'Holborn Infirmary nurses badge' in the form of a large hollow silver white rose, mounted with a coloured shield bearing the 'Coat of Arms of Holburn', the reverse impressed with Birmingham silver hallmarks for 1917 and maker's details 'R.S' 'Spencer London' and inscribed to the recipient 'Frances May Pound 1915'. Very good condition, complete with original pin fitting, enamel perfect. An excellent example.
Height 36mm.

Frances May Pound was born around 1884 in Stratton St. Margaret Wiltshire. She trained at the Holborn Union Infirmary between 1912 and 1915. During the Second World War she was living in Harrogate Yorkshire.
She later married and became Mrs Frances May Storr.

A scarce original circa 1910 period 'Lord Mayor Treloar Cripples' Home & College' nurses hospital gilt and enamel award badge bearing additional clasps 1911, 1914,1916 and 1920, the reverse embossed with facsimile signature of Queen Alexandra. Very good condition, complete with original silk ribbon and 'Queen Alexandra League of Children' suspension bar with pin fittings, no stress mark or damage to the enamel, gilt finish remains bright, silk ribbon now very fragile.
Height approx 95mm.

Originally called the Princess Louise Military Hospital, becoming 'Lord Mayor Treloar Cripples' Home & College' situated in Alton Hampshire and admitting the first patients in 1908, adult patients were admitted in 1951 and the Nurse Training School was opened soon afterwards the hospitals name was changed to 'Lord Mayor Treloar Hospital'.
