A scarce original circa 1957 period 'General Hospital Nottingham nurses badge' in the form of a fine quality large silver gilt shield inlaid with red translucent enamelling, depicting the 'Arms of Nottingham' a green enamel ragged Cross mounted with three highly defined 'Ducal Coronets' and a blue scroll 'G.H.N' within green laurel sprays; the reverse impressed with Birmingham silver hallmarks for 1957, maker's details 'V&S' (Vaughton & Sons Birmingham) and official issue number '1339'. Good condition, complete with a pin fitting replacement hook with roller catch in good working order, enamel flake to lower right side.

Killearn Hospital Scotland was one of five commisioned in 1938 in preparation for the war and completed in 1941 just in time for the Luftwaffe bombers air raids in and around Clydebank, the town was seriously damaged as were the local shipyards. The hospital was closed in the early 1970’s.

A scarce original 1950's period 'Addenbrookes Hospital nurses qualification named badge', in the form of a shield, the lower half displaying an embossed representation of the original hospitals' facade, surmounted by four crests in relief, the former 'Cambridge County Coat of Arms' with motto 'Per Undas Per Argos', the later below, to the left 'Cambridge University' and to the right the 'Isle of Ely'; the reverse impressed with Birmingham silver hallmarks for 1951 and maker's details 'T.F' (Thomas Fattorini). Very good condition, complete with original pin fitting, old replacement hook with safety roller catch and chain, enamel intact with very minor service wear.
