A scarce original turn of the twentieth century small pattern 'Ellerman Lines Limited (City Line) officer's cap badge'; gold embroidered bullion wreath the centre bearing the companies 'SS' red flag surmounted by "J.R.E." (John Reeves Ellerman) pennant, the reverse with herringbone pattern black cotton lining. Very good clean condition, bullion remains bright, small patch of blue backing now absent from pennant and small patch behind.

A scarce original circa 1950 -1959 short- lived Union-Castle shipping line 'Bloemfontein Castle souvenir ship's brooch'; extra large oval example bearing a transfer picture of the ship, the reverse impressed "Made in England Sterling Silver Pt 202213". Good condition, complete with original pin fittings pin a replacement, colours remain bright with some edge fading and deterioration, pespex cover slightly dented.

TSS Euripides Aberdeen Line 1915 hallmarked silver anchor badge.


A very scarce Great War period 'T.S.S. Euripides hollow silver brooch' in the form of an anchor and bearing a gold plated named scroll; the reverse impressed with Birmingham silver hallmarks for 1915 and maker's details "F.H.M" (Frank H Mannox Birmingham). Very good condition, complete with its original pin fittings, no dents or distortions, an excellent example.

'TSS EURIPIDES' was built in 1914 by Harland and Wolff, Belfast for the Aberdeen and Commonwealth Line. Launched on 29 January 1914, she embarked on her maiden voyage from London to Brisbane. Two days after her arrival she was requisitioned as a troopship carrying her first convoy of Australian troops to the Dardanelles. In 1929 the Euripides was transferred to the White Star Line and in 1932 was acquired by the Shaw Savill and Albion Line and renamed 'MS Akaroa'.

WW1 RMS Arlanza and Royal Navy ship HMS Arlanza silver badge.


A scarce original First World War period short lived armed merchant cruiser 'HMS Arlanza naval brooch'; King George V crowned blue enamel strap, the centre with embossed 'White Ensign' in red, white and blue enamelling, the reverse impressed "Solid Silver". Very good condition, complete with original coiled pin bar typical of the period, enamel perfect.

'RMS Arlanza' was a ocean liner built by Harland and Wolff, Belfast, Ireland for the Royal Mail Steam Packet Company. She was requisitioned in the First World War from 1915 until 1920 and became a Royal Navy armed merchant cruiser. She was decommissioned in 1920, returned to her owners and resumed commercial liner service until she was scrapped in 1938.

A scarce original shipping line silver spoon from the ill-fated Peninsular and Oriental Steam Navigation Company 'R.M.S.Mongolia' which was sunk by a mine off Bombay on June 23rd 1917. The finial in the form of a disc depicting a hand-painted enamel representation of the two funnels and masts passenger ship; the reverse impressed with Birmingham silver hallmarks for 1906 and maker's details "L&S" (Levi & Salaman Birmingham). Very good condition, no stress marks or chips to the enamel.

A rare original circa 1920's 'Anglo-Saxon Petroleum Company Limited, London shipping oil tanker cap badge'; the Company's gilded brass flag inlaid with white enamel and bearing a blue saltire with red disc to centre, this mounted upon a gold bullion wreath, the reverse with waxed black hessian lining and remains attached to its original oak leaf embroidered silk cap band. Very good clean condition, enamel perfect except for a very minor nick to white enamel left edge, thin patch to the cap band.
