R.M.S. Andania Cunard White Star gilt & enamel picture badge

A rare original early 1930's period 'RMS Andania hand painted enamel Cunard-White Star Line ocean liner picture brooch' depicting the single funnel Steam Ship within a ornate gilt surround. Good condition, complete with original pin fittings, no enamel loss, minor surface hairlines not affecting the appearance.
Size approx 31 x 22mm.
RMS Andania was a British ocean liner launched in 1921, at the start of World War II she was requisitioned for use as an armed merchant cruiser. On the 15 June 1940 HMS Andania was hit by a torpedo fired by the German submarine and sank the next day. The entire crew was rescued by the Icelandic fishing vessel 'Skallagrimur'.
