The British Red Cross Society County / Branch badge was Instituted in 1911 and Discontinued in 1956.

A scarce original First World War period 'Irish War Hospital Supply Depot badge', in the form of bronze suspension bar with embossed letters "I.W.H.S.D" green ribbon threaded through the bar on reverse and ending in a point to which a Crowned VW Volunteer Workers brass badge is pinned, the reverse with embossed makers details J.R.Gaunt London and impressed with official issue number 50309". Both bar and badge in very good condition and retaining original substantial pin fittings, ribbon very fragile, but remains intact. Approx Height 55mm.

A superb rare original late Edwardian period Irish Hospital badge; large heavy Crowned ornate circular example bearing 'Royal City of Dublin Hospital Founded 1832' title surround, to the centre on hatched shamrock ground a shield, the upper half with three Dublin Castles, the lower depicting doctor and patient in relief; the reverse impressed with Birmingham silver hallmarks for 1910 and maker's details "MBLd". Very good condition, retaining original hook and old replacement pin fitting. Height 53mm. The 'Royal City of Dublin Hospital' built in 1832 on Upper Baggot Street, Dublin, Ireland. The hospital was first called 'Baggot Street Hospital' but was later renamed in 1900.

The 'Irish War Hospital Supply Depot badge' usually comes in the form of bronze suspension bar with embossed letters 'IWHSD' from which a green ribbon hangs, the 'Volunteer War Workers' badge worn below.
