WW2 Home Guard invasion defence home front lapel badge

A scarce original Second World War period 'Home Guard lapel badge'; small chromium plated crowned oval badge inlaid with blue enamel, 'HG' to the centre. Very good condition, complete with original buttonhole fitting impressed with 'REG.No.70404', no damage to the enamel. An excellent example.
Height 20mm.

Formed in 1940, from the recently raised Local Defence Volunteers (LDV), to counter the threat of invasion from German airborne and seaborne troops (Hitler's "Operation Sea Lion").
