A scarce original Second World War period 'Home Guard Auxiliary Women's official recognition badge, made from brown plastic material the reverse with maker's details 'A Stanley & Sons Walsall' 'Prov.Pat. 1-A'. Very good condition, complete with original metal pin fittings, no fading or distortion.
Diameter approx 42mm.

Home Guard Auxiliary badge was issued from July 1943 with an official certificate making them recognised followers of the armed forces and therefore eligible for protection under the terms of the Geneva Convention. The badge could be worn on left side of a coat or dress, but frequently seen worn as a hat badge.
