WW2 Parachute Regiment other ranks beret badge

A scarce original wartime issue 'Parachute Regiment beret badge'; die stamped silver plated brass winged parachute canopy surmounted by a Royal Crest bearing a non-voided crown, this convex shaped for a snug fit. Very worn condition, silver plating worn back to brass to the front, complete with original loops and split pin.
Width 66mm.

Originally formed as The Parachute Corps 22nd June, 1940 at The Central Landing School, Ringway, Manchester; redesignated The Parachute Regiment, Army Air Corps 1st August, 1942.
