A scarce original early Wartime first issue 'Auxiliary Fire Service silver and enamel lapel badge', the reverse impressed "Sterling Silver and with official issue number "73203". Good condition, retaining original buttonhole fitting, enamel chips to the crown.
Height 30mm.

Designed by Mr Paget of the Royal Mint and announced by the Home Office in 1938 the terms of its issue, the first being in "Sterling Silver".

A good original Second World War period celluloid matchbox cover, "British Made" the front and back displaying a badge representation of the 'Auxiliary Fire Service' with 'A.F.S' below, the spine inscribed with full title; accompanying is an empty wooden matchbox inscribed 'Superior Paraffin Matches' "Trade Mark" "Made in Belgium" and displaying a Tug Boat on the sea passing a floating bouy. Good condition, some minor foxing, colours remain bright, surface scratches.
