A large Victorian period 'Primrose League Decoration of the Grand Star Second Grade'; unmarked star, cut in brilliant silver facets, mounted with gilt Garter inlaid with blue enamelling, bearing the legend 'Imperium Et Libertas' (Empire and liberty), surmounted by an Imperial Crown and yellow enamel primrose centre. Very good condition, complete with original pin fittings, enamel perfect.

A very attractive Victorian 'Primrose League brooch', open to be worn by all ladies of the League, Dames or Associates. The reversible brooch, the rim in gilt with revolving centre, shows to one face a conventional primrose with "PL' to the centre and surrounded by the motto "Imperium Et Libertas", the reverse being similar but without the monogram, with maker's details to the rim "W.O.Lewis Howard St BIRMm". Very good condition, retaining original pin fittings, minor nick to the enamel, gilt finish remains bright.
