London County Council (M) Nursing Service male nurse badge pre 1953

A scarce original believed to be late circa 1940's period 'London County Council (M) Nursing Service gilt badge' in the form of a red cross, blue enamel title circlet and depicting the pre 1953 'LCC Coat of arms', the reverse complete with its original buttonhole lapel fittings usually associated with a male nurse. Good condition, no chips to the enamel, very minor bruising to middle arms of the cross, gilt finish remains bright.
Height 29mm.

A scarce original circa pre 1980 vintage period fine quality 'New York State Registered Nurse badge'; very stylish large pointed shield, embossed with 'Lamp of Maintenance' to the top and 'NYS' to the point, blue enamelled 'RN' across the centre; the reverse impressed 'Sterling' and with pre 1979 New York jewellers details 'Dieges & Clust'. Excellent condition, complete with original single screw bolt and retainer nut also impressed 'Sterling', enamel perfect.

Dieges & Clust were jewellers established in New York in 1898 by Col. Charles J. Dieges.They produced many medals, including the 1904 Olympic Medal, the Eagle Scout medal (from 1916–1920) and the Titanic-Carpathia Medals. The company was sold to Herff Jones in 1980.
