King George V was appointed the first Royal Patron of the 'Cyclists Touring Club' and a small Crown was added to the logo.

A very scarce original 'North East Cyclists Meet 1909 Oxford pin badge'; gilt brass example, bearing blue enamel horseshoe title scroll, the centre bearing the Arms of Oxford, a red oxen crossing the River Thames, with two other additional shields below Northumberland and St. George; the reverse impressed with maker's details 'Collins'. Very good condition, complete with original pin fittings, no damage to the enamel, gilt finish remains bright. Height 28mm. The first NECM North Eastern Cyclists Meet was organised in 1879 by T. H. Holden, the secretary of the Sunderland Cycling Club. Their Meets took place at different venues up until 1886 when it became firmly established as an annual event at Barnard Castle in Teeside, County Durham.
