A scarce original turn of the 20th century period 'Our Dumb Friends League Childrens Branch pin badge', in the form of a gilt heart, depicting an embossed scene of a Horse, Donkey, Cow, Pig and Sheep; the reverse impressed with maker's details 'W.O.Lewis (Badges) Ltd, B'Ham'. Very good condition, complete with sprung suspension bar pin fittings and retaining a good percentage of its original gilt finish.
Height approx 44mm.
The Children's Branch of Our Dumb Friends League was an early 20th-century youth auxiliary group for the animal welfare charity originally founded in London in 1897. It later became the Blue Cross.
