A scarce original pre-1932 period 'Royal Mail Steam Packet Company Vesta silver plated match case holder, impressed with the shipping line company logo, the reverse stamped 'English Made'. Very good condition, catch and hinge in good working order, no sign of any dents.
Size approx 61 x 44mm.
The Royal Mail Steam Packet Company was founded in London in 1839 by James MacQueen. The line's motto was Per Mare Ubique (everywhere by sea). The company was liquidated and its assets taken over by the newly formed Royal Mail Lines in 1932.
