1st (Exeter & South Devon) Rifle Volunteers Regimental Uniform Button c.1859-1901
A scarce original Victorian period '1st (Exeter & South Devon) Rifle Volunteers button' bronzed brass lined example displaying the embossed old English letters 'E.S.D. over Queen victorian crown and bugle horn; the reverse inscribed 'EXTRA RICH QUALITY'. Very good condition, complete with original shank, minimal wear to high points.
Diameter approx 23mm.
Originally raised in May 1852, accepted by Horse Guards 23rd September 1959 as 1st Devonshire Rifle Volunteers (Exeter and South Devon). Became 1st VB Devonshire Regiment on 1st November 1885.
