A scarce original circa Second World War period 'Armstrong Whitworth Aircraft A. W. Hawksley Ltd workers identification badge', chromium plated example inlaid with two-tone blue enamel and depicting the 'A W' initials, the reverse impressed with maker's details 'J.R.GAUNT LONDON'. Good condition, complete with original buttonhole lapel fitting, no enamel loss, minor service wear.
Height approx 25mm.
During the war, Armstrong Whitworth produced 'Avro Lancasters' and designed the 'Armstrong Whitworth Albemarle' reconnaissance bomber which was then made by A. W. Hawksley Ltd, part of the Hawker Siddeley group.
