WW1 Cliffe (Mirfield) Ltd On Government War Service Badge West Yorkshire

A scarce original First World War period 'Cliffe (Mirfield) Ltd On Government Service identification badge', large gilt red and blue enamel title surround, the companies name to oval centre on white enamel ground; the reverse impressed with maker's details 'FATTORINI & SONS BRADFORD'. Very good condition, complete with original buttonhole fitting, no enamel loss, gilt finish remains bright.
Diameter approx 32mm.
With the outbreak of First World War in August 1914 many local engineering firms in the Heavy Woollen District pivoted to support military production or provided machinery for the manufacturing of uniforms for the West Yorkshire Regiment.
