A scarce original pre-1941 period 'Observer Corps small matching pair of white metal breast pocket or sleeve uniform buttons' depicting a figure of an Elizabethan coastwatcher holding a flaming torch and scanning the horizon'; the reverse impressed with maker's details 'J.R.GAUNT & SON Ltd LONDON ENG'. Very good condition.

The 'Observer Corps' was awarded the title 'Royal' by His Majesty King George VI in April 1941, in recognition of service carried out by Observer Corps personnel during the Battle of Britain.
