WW1 BRCS & Order of St John wartime medal & badges
A very scarce original First World War period 'British Red Cross Society and Order of St John wartime group comprising:
1914/15 Star awarded to C.RUGGLES. B.R.C.S. & O. ST. J.J. near mint condition.
The British Red Cross Society Identification neck badge '3035 CHARLES RUGGLES". VGC.
The British Red Cross Society City of London County unnamed badge.VGC.
The League of Nations Union pin badge. VGC.
Orderly Sergeant Charles Ruggles MID British Red Cross Society lived at Tufnel Park London. Volunteering for the BRCS he served in France with the London District Unit and in March 1915 until September 1916 served at Calais and later Paris. In September 1916 he volunteered for further service and was posted to Romania Salonika as an Orderly Stores Sergeant. His final posting came in 1917 and he served with the Wounded and Missing Enquiry Bureau. On the 22nd January 1919 the London Gazette announced the award of a Mention in Despatches for his services in Salonika. He was demobilised on the 24th February 1919.
