Royal Navy Ship HMS Durban wire work mother of pearl pin badge
A scarce original First World War period 'H.M.S. Durban pin brooch', rolled gold hand-crafted wire work mounted on polished mother of pearl oval backing, below a pendant heart engraved 'HMS'. Very good condition.
Width approx 51mm.
HMS Durban was a Danae-class light cruiser of the Royal Navy. She was launched in 1919.
In 1944 Durban was scuttled to form part of the Gooseberry 5 breakwater for protecting the artificial harbour off Ouistreham in the Seine Bay.
