Overseas Nursing Association 1923 silver nurses hospital badge
A scarce original post 1919 large early pattern 'Overseas Nursing Association frosted silver nurses badge, the solid centre depicting a seated 'Britannia' within an oval title surround, suspended from an ornate oak leaf decorated bar with applied 1923 date, the reverse impressed 'Sterling' on suspension bar. Very good condition, complete with original pin fitting, patina sheen remains crisp .
Height approx 58mm.
Founded in 1896 by Lady Piggott as the 'Colonial Nursing Association' to provide trained nurses for the British Colonies and the small British communities abroad. Renamed the 'Overseas Nursing Association' in 1919. Closed on 1 December 1966.
