Royal Navy HMS Kenya Fiji-class light cruiser ship badge 1939 -1958 + Photograph
A scarce original vintage period detailed ship's silhouette of 'H.M.S. Kenya in the form of a unmarked white metal pin brooch'. Very good condition, complete with original pin fittings and accompanied by a period black and white photograph of the ship displaying bunting.
Length approx 58mm.
HMS Kenya was launched in 1939 from the yards of Alexander Stephen and Sons, Glasgow Scotland. She took part in the hunt for the German battleship Bismarck in May 1941 whilst part of the 2nd Cruiser Squadron, Home Fleet, based at Scapa Flow. On the 3rd June 1941 HMS Kenya and the cruiser HMS Aurora surprised and sank the refuelling tanker Belchen which was supplying German Submarine U-93 in the Davis Straits.
