P.B.Cow & Co war workers badge barrage balloon production
A very scarce original Second World War period example worn by a worker in the 'P.B.Cow Ltd Factory London', in the form of a chromium plated shield depicting a barrage balloon over a silhouette of St Pauls Cathedral and Battersea Power Station with Latin scroll below 'Sursum Corda' (Lift up your hearts); the reverse impressed with maker's details 'Thomas Fattorini Ltd, Regent St, Birmingham'. Good condition, the original buttonhole lapel fitting cut short with hole drilled to accommodate a stick pin, no enamel loss.
Height approx 26mm.
'P.B.Cow & Co' factories were in Streatham, Stanmore and Slough, they specialised in the production of rubber and plastics equipment for the Royal Air Force including Barrage Balloons. A logo advertisement appears in Flight International Magazine on the 25th July 1940.
