A rare ORIGINAL circa 1936 to 1937 short lived period 'Hindenburg D-L.Z.129 commemorative badge' in the form of a small die-pressed airship bearing embossed inscription, the reverse impressed '800' (silver) to the clasp. Very good condition, complete with original pin fittings.
Length approx 40mm.
Hindenburg D-L.Z.129 was named after Field Marshal Paul von Hindenburg, President of Germany from 1925 until his death in 1934. It was designed and built by the Zeppelin Company on the shores of Lake Constance in Friedrichshafen, Germany, and was operated by the German Zeppelin Airline Company. Its Last flight on May 6 1937 ended in disaster in Manchester Township, New Jersey, United States.
