Boer War Princess Christians Army Nursing Service Reserve Badge & Medal

A rare ORIGINAL circa 24th July 1900 period 'Princess Christian's Army Nursing Service Reserve pin badge', depicting a lined cross with thistle, oakleaf, shamrock and rose devices between each Crowned arm; the reverse impressed with official issue number '690'. Very good condition, complete with original substantial pin fittings. Diameter approx 50mm.
Together with her Queen’s South Africa Medal officially impressed 'NURSING SISTER M.J.SPENCER' and complete with original silk ribbon.
Sister Mary Jane Spencer was appointed a member of the Princess Christian's Army Nursing Service Reserve on the 24th July 1900. After training she embarked to South Africa on the 19th January 1901 on board the transport ship S.S. Canada. She returned on the Troopship S.S.Assaye with wounded soldiers during May 1901.
