Shell-Mex and BP Ltd cap badge 1932 to 1976

A scarce original pre 1976 period 'Shell-Mex and BP Ltd cap badge' possibly worn by a tanker driver; large impressive silver plated example enhanced with red and black enamel, in the form of the 'Shell logo' but also bearing the 'BP' shield to the centre. Good condition, complete with original two loop fittings and split pin, no damage to the enamel, silver plating remains crisp, light surface scatches to centre.
Height 52mm.
The Shell-Mex & BP Ltd was formed in 1932 by the merging of two petroleum companies the 'Royal Dutch Shell' and the 'British Petroleum Company' the headquarters were based in London. It was defunct in 1976.
