A rare original early Great War period 'Ambulance Column attached to London District lady's cap badge'; circular silver example bearing an enamelled 'Red Cross' to the centre, title surround inlaid with blue enamel, the reverse impressed with Birmingham silver hallmarks for 1914, unusual maker's details 'L&S' (Levi & Salaman, Birmingham) and impressed with official low issue number '166'. Very good condition, complete with original pin fittings, no damage to the enamel, minimal service wear.

The 'Ambulance Column attached to London District' was a World War 1 raised unit (1914 to 1919) formed for the transporting of sick and wounded soldiers by ambulances from 'London Train Stations' to various hospitals in and around London.
