A scarce original First World War period '1914 National Service London silver badge', the reverse inpressed with Birmingham silver hallmarks for 1914 and maker's details 'JRG&S' (J R Gaunt & Son). Very good condition, no damage to the enamel, complete with original silk ribbon and suspension bar with hallmarks for 1915 and housed in its presentation case with makers details to inside lid.
Height approx 75mm.
The National Service League NSL was a British organisation founded in February 1902 and led by Lord Roberts until 1914, to campaign for the introduction of compulsory military training in Great Britain, in order to protect the country against invasion, particularly from Germany. The League was formally dissolved in 1921
