A scarce original post-war period 'National Register of Animals lapel badge'; small silver plated circular example bearing red title surround 'N.R.A ANIMAL GUARD' with blue cross to the centre, the reverse with maker's details 'J.R.Gaunt London'. Very good condition, complete with original buttonhole fitting, no damage to the enamel.
Diameter 23mm.

It was announced in December 1944 that NARPAC would cease to exist early in the new year and it was wound up on the 4th January 1945, its assets passing to the PDSA. The animal registration scheme was continued for a period after the war as the 'National Register of Animals'.
