2LO London Radio Circle BBC transmitting station numbered badge

A scarce original pre 1928 small gilt and enamel '2LO London Radio Circle badge' bearing a shield from the 'City of London Coat of Arms' and a transmission tower, the reverse impressed with maker's details 'Thomas Fattorini Hockley St (Birmingham) Ltd' (1919-1928) and official issue number '9265'. Good condition, complete with original buttonhole lapel fitting, minor defects to the enamel surround.
Diameter 19mm.

2LO radio station first began broadcasting on 11 May 1922 from Marconi House in London's Strand it transferred in November of that year to the new British Broadcasting Company which was itself replaced by the British Broadcasting Corporation in 1927.
