WW2 Home Guard Home Front Invasion Defence lapel badge

A scarce original Second World War period small round brass badge inlaid with blue enamel, inscribed with scarce full title 'HOME GUARD' to the centre, surmounted by an unusual King's Crown in red enamel. Fair condition, complete with original buttonhole fitting, enamel with period restoration and surface scratches.
Height 23mm.

Formed in 1940, from the recently raised Local Defence Volunteers (LDV), to counter the threat of invasion from German airborne and seaborne troops (Hitler's 'Operation Sea Lion').
