CWL Huts 1915 - 1919 Catholic Womens League war service tribute badge

A scarce original end of the First World War period 'C.W.L. Huts 1915 - 1919 tribute pin badge'; silver plated blue enamel oval title surround, a representation Recreation Hut for the Forces embossed to centre; the reverse impressed with early maker's details 'Fattorini Bradford'. Very good condition, complete with original pin fittings, no damage to the enamel.
Height 21mm.

At the beginning of the First World War an appeal was made for a Catholic recreation hut for the Forces in Boulogne and with the generous response from members of the public, the League obtained and open a hut there. In 1916 additional huts were opened in England to provide comforts for the forces and to cater for their spiritual needs.
