A scarce original Boer War period 'City Imperial Volunteers Welcome Home celluloid tin button badge' worn to celebrate the returns of troops fighting for Queen and Country out in South Africa, in the form of a newspaper promotional celluloid tin button, bearing the City of London flag with red cross and 'Wat Tyler's dagger' in the first quarter; the reverse retaining the original advertising card insert stating 'Buy The Evening News !' Very good condition, complete with original pin fitting, colours remain bright, minimal foxing.
