A scarce original 1918 period 'On War Service La Bassee Shell Factory woman workers gold award badge' from the shell filling factory situated in Cranstonhill, Glasgow Scotland, in the form of a white enamel title circlet, Crowned 1916 bar to voided centre; the reverse impressed with Birmingham 9 carat gold hallmarks for 1918, maker's details 'B H Joseph & Co' (Barnet Henry Joseph) and inscribed to the recipient 'E.Mc.Kay 11/11/18'. Very good condition, complete with original pin fittings, no damage to the enamel.
