A good original circa 1970's period 'City of Stoke on Trent R.J.Mitchell Spitfire museum celluliod tin button badge'; large blue and white format example, displaying a Royal Air Force spitfire fighter plane in flight. Very good condition, complete with original pin fitting.

The Supermarine Spitfire MK XVI RW388 was presented to the City of Stoke-on-Trent in 1972 in recognition of Stoke-on-Trent being the birthplace of the it’s designer R.J. Mitchell. A dedicated museum was created in Hanley where she was exhibited for many years before moving to her permanent home in the City museum during the winter of 1985. These badges were available at the dedicated museum shop during the 1970’s.
