Mechanised Transport Corps MTC women's matching pair of collar badges

A rare original Second World War post 1940's period 'Mechanised Transport Corps matching pair of uniform collar badges' in the form of a die-cast bronzed motor car wheel and tyre, the voided centre bearing crossed spanners each with a raised letter 'MTC' with motto scroll below 'Pro Patria'. Very good condition, complete with original pin fittings, each retaining their dark blue serge wool cloth backing.
Height 29mm.

The 'Mechanised Transport Training Corps' MTTC was formed in Feb 1939 as a women's voluntary civilian organisation. It was recognised by the Ministry of War Transport in 1940 and renamed the 'Mechanised Transport Corps' MTC, and its members were conscripted and received pay.
