Edward VIII 1937 Coronation commemorative medal with original box

A scarce original fine quality Edward VIII gilt metal medal, produced for the proposed Coronation in 1937 that never took place. The obverse with Crowned bust right and inscribed 'Edward VIII King And Emperor', the reverse an allegorical figure of Britannia standing frontal, holding crown within a portico, River Thames, St Paul's Cathedral and battleship in the background, titled 'Crowned A.D. 1937'; complete with original display card inscribed 'Coronation Souvenir' 'British Made' and contained in a red, white and blue cardboard box, this with age wear and corners split. Medal in very good mint condition, complete with original ribbon, Crowned suspension bar with single pin fitting and waxed paper envelope, gilt finish remains bright.
