RCAF No 422 General Reconnaissance squadron miniature lapel badge

A scarce original George VI period 'Royal Canadian Air Force No 422 Squadron gilt and enamel miniature badge', depicting an arm of Red Indian holding a tomahawk in its hand with motto from Shakespeare referring to the squadron’s striking power. 'This Arm Shall Do It'; the reverse with Canadian style screw post fitting with large retaining nut. Very good condition, no damage to the enamel, gilt finish remains bright.
Height 16mm.

RCAF No 422 formed as a General Reconnaissance unit at Lough Erne, Fermanagh, Northern Ireland in 1942, disbanded at the end of the war in September 1945.
