WW2 Home Guard County of Lincolnshire printed set of battledress sleeve badges

A scarce original Second World War period set of 'Lincolnshire county's units badges' in the form of a matching pair of blue printed imps on khaki green background, together with matching Home Guard titles. Very good condition, evidence of having been removed from battledress blouse.

The design of the Lincoln imp badge was based on the grotesque sculpture in Lincoln cathedral, which commemorates the legend that construction of the cathedral in the thirteenth century was hindered by a malicious imp, only stopped when hit on the leg by a stone thrown by an angel. The wounded imp is depicted holding his damaged leg whilst hopping on the sound one.
