A good original First World War period 'Silver War Badge officially issue numbered 'B140473', awarded to '24237 Private William Ernest Sharples'; unmarked silver circlet inscribed 'For King And Empire Services Rendered' bearing crowned 'GRI' Imperial Cypher to voided centre. Very good condition, complete with original pin fittings.
Diameter 33mm.

Awarded to Private William Ernest Sharples who enlisted into the Loyal North Lancashire Regiment on the 6th May 1918. He served in France being awarded the British War Medal and Victory Medal. He was reported wounded in the War Office list published on the 22nd June 1918. He was discharged on the 10th March 1919, his next of kin listed as living in Longridge Lancashire.
