A scarce original Second World War period 'Home Guard title lapel badge'; small oblong silver plated brass example inlaid with blue enamel surmounted by a red enamel King George VI Crown. Very good condition, complete with original buttonhole fitting, no damage to the enamel, minor surface scratches and wear to silver plating almost back to brass.
Height 19mm.

Formed in 1940, from the recently raised Local Defence Volunteers (LDV), to counter the threat of invasion from German airborne and seaborne troops (Hitler's 'Operation Sea Lion').
