A scarce original circa late 1930's 'Hut-Man's Club badge' large circular brass example displaying a back view of a rabbit on green enamel ground, within black title surround; the reverse impressed with maker's details 'Fattorini Glasgow'. Very good condition, complete with original pin fittings, enamel perfect.

Gilbert Dempster Fisher was a Naturalist, Writer, Broadcaster and Director Secretary of the Royal Zoological Society of Scotland. He became known as the 'Hut Man' and founded the 'Hut-Man's Club' in the late 1930's, school children who were members could secure badges recognising a skill or knowledge in various categories of nature study. In 1958 it was revived as 'The Hut Man’s Nature Club' later the name changed to 'The Gannet Club'.
