A rare original early pre-war period 'National Federation of the Women's Institutes WI Guild of Learners of Handicrafts proficiency badge'; silver plated suspension bar bearing 'G of L' blue enamel cypher from which depends a grey silk ribbon bearing blue and green enamel proficiency bars 'Patchwork A.' (1st Class) 'Patchwork B.' (2nd Class); the reverse impressed with maker's details 'W.O.Lewis (Badges) Ltd B'Ham'. Very good condition, complete with original pin fittings, enamel perfect.
Height approx 55mm.

‘The Guild of Learners of Handicrafts’ was founded in 1920's, its name was changed to 'The Handicraft Guild'
in circa 1950's.
