United Dairies ARP fire officer air raid precautions badge

A rare original circa 1939 -1945 wartime period 'United Dairies ARP Fire Officer's badge'; silver plated brass blue enamel disc displaying 'ARP' lettering, surmounted by a red enamel attendant scroll 'UNITED DAIRIES', the reverse impressed with maker's details 'Toye & Co London'. Very good condition, complete with original buttonhole fittings, no damage to the enamel, silvered finish worn back to brass.
Height 29mm.

United Dairies was formed in 1915, and became one of the largest dairy products company, distributing milk to the all over the United Kingdom via milk trains and daily delivery to homes by horse and cart and later by milk floats. United Dairies merged to form Unigate in 1959.
