Robertsons circa 1937 Golly footballer pale blue & claret ball badge

A very rare original pre-war circa 1937 first pattern 'Robertson's Footballer Golly badge', displaying white hands and black feet and wearing a yellow V-neck waistcoat displaying the advertising slogan 'Golden Shred' and kicking a pale blue and claret ball; the reverse stamped in relief with a "REGd APPd 808442" a Registration, Design and Patent for the year 1937 and with maker's details "H.W.Miller Branston St B'Ham.18". Condition: enamel loss to both legs, nick to right side tip of coat, scatch marks to head, retaining original coiled pin fitting and hook catch.

The idea of coloured footballs was to encourage enthusiasts to send for the Golly with the colours of their favourite football team, the pale blue and claret colours included Aston Villa, Burnley and West Ham.
