Friends of the Guinea Pig Club Royal Air Force related FGPC badge

A very scarce original circa late 1945 to early 1950's 'Friends of the Guinea Pig Club' brass and enamel badge. This well designed badge depicts a winged guinea pig over the title "F.G.P.C." on pale blue enamel and enclosed by a laurel wreath, the reverse with maker's details "Fattorini & Sons Ld. Bradford Works Birmingham (this pattern 1945–1954). Good condition, complete with original pin fittings, flaw to enamel.

Guinea Pig Club consisted of only 639 members, they were very badly burned Royal Air Force aircrew who received pioneering plastic surgery from the famous surgeon Sir Archibald MacIndoe at the hospital in East Grinstead.
