WW1 Ulster Volunteer Force Medical & Nursing Corps medal

A very rare original gilt and enamel unusually named medal. Crowned shamrock wreath with "U.V.M & N.C. For God & Ulster" title surround, red cross to centre on white enamel ground, below the Red Hand of Ulster with "Proficiency" scroll below; the reverse with maker's details "Sharman. D. Neill Ltd Belfast" and unusually inscribed to the recipient "Mary N. Young. Annsfield, Killyleigh, Co.Down. Nov,1914". Very good condition, complete with original red, white and blue silk ribbon and suspension bar with pin fittings, no damage to the enamel, ribbon frayed.
