A scarce original First World War period 'Engaged On Government Work badge'; gilded brass circular example the title surround inlaid with red and blue enamel, the centre depicting an embossed with 'Union Spray' representing the unity of England, Scotland and Ireland, a Rose, Thistle and Shamrock, with applied white central title bar 'Wrinch & Sons Ltd'. Very good condition, retaining original buttonhole lapel fitting (this a little flattened) minor service wear to enamel.
Diameter 27mm.

In peacetime 'Wrinch & Sons Ltd' of St. Lawrence Works, Ipswich, manufactured garden furniture, Ironmonger, farms and agricultural buildings. During the First World War commercial production would have ceased and the company committed to the production of war materials.
