WW2 Royal Canadian Air Force silver wing award badge original box

A scarce original wartime issue 'Royal Canadian Air Force operational tour wing' with a second award bar; the reverse impressed "Sterling and with Canadian maker's details "Birks". Very good uncleaned condition, retaining original screw posts backing plate and nuts and all of its gilt finish, housed in original 'Birks' of Canada cardboard box as awarded.

The 'Royal Canadian Air Force Operational Tour badge' was officialy awarded by the RCAF during WW2 to aircrew who completed an operational tour against the enemy. The additional bar indicating that a second tour of operations had been completed. These were officially worn on uniform.
